ULTRA VIOLET
Violet is a color that is near and dear to our hearts. It is the basis for the BN Color “Blurple” - and we love to see it wherever it pops up.
Violet is the color at the end of the visible spectrum of light between blue and the invisible ultraviolet. It has a dominant wavelength of approximately 380-450 nanometers.
The color's name is derived from the violet flower. Violet is not exactly the same as purple, although they look similar -- violet is a spectral color, with its own set of wavelengths on the spectrum of visible light. Whereas purple is a polychromatic color, a combo of blue and red.
Ultra Violet is the Pantone Color of the Year for 2018, so we are in all kinds of violet bliss. But it’s more than just liking the way the color looks.
Violets inspire romance, art, creativity and deep emotion. For millennia, violet has been c color favored by royalty and spiritual leaders. It was often used in art as the color of the robes of the Virgin Mary. In Chinese painting, the color violet represents the harmony of the universe. In Hinduism and Buddhism violet is associated with the Crown Chakra.
