10 BEAUTIFUL PLACES TO CELEBRATE SPRING NOW

1. SHIBAZAKURA HILL -- JAPAN
Springtime turns Shibazakura Hill, at the base of Mount Fuji, in Japan, bright pink as millions of moss blooms (aka shibazakura) bloom. Added to that, about 1,000 cherry trees get their blossoms into the act.
Best times to see this extravaganza is from early in April to early in May.
2. HOKKAIDO -- JAPAN
The Higashimokoto Flower Park of Hokkaido Island is a sea of blossoms in springtime. The Park was originally planted in 1956, with only one box of seeds. But the flowers proliferated and now number in the millions, spread out over 100.000 square meters of land overlooking the scenic town Takinoue.

3. LUOPING -- CHINA
Springtime turns Luoping, a small county in eastern Yunnan, China, into vast swaths of yellow, as rapeseed fields begin to bloom. These are the flowers that are used to make canola oil.
The best time to visit Luoping for this visual fiesta is February through March, and into April.
4. VALLEY OF FLOWERS -- UTTARAKHAND, INDIA
Rivers that get their start high up in the western Himalayas gather vigor as they head down to water the Uttarakhand region of India. In spring, they swell with snowmelt and flood the land. As the waters retreat, they leave carpets of wildflowers.
There are 300 different species growing here in the Valley of Flowers National Park, a UNESCO Heritage Site. It’s a great place to see spring wildlife, such as the Asiatic black bear, brown bear, snow leopard, and blue sheep, as they emerge after a tough winter.
The Uttarakhand Spring Bird Festival, where bird watching camps are conducted at 25 birding destinations within the state.
5. CORNWALL -- UNITED KINGDOM
England is known for its gardens. And Cornwall, the stretch of land in the southwest is the first part of the country to experience spring blooms. The area is noted for its wild moorland landscapes, its beautiful long coastline, much of it protected, and its very mild climate.
Magnolia trees abound. Poppy fields sweep color down to the sea.
6. NAMAQUALAND -- NAMIBIA
Springtime turns Namaqualand, Namibia from an arid, barren landscape to a unique blooming paradise. Many of the flowers found here are endemic. August is the best time to view, offering a solid month of very concentrated mass flowering.
7. NORTHUMBERLAND -- UNITED KINGDOM
Late spring paints the rolling hills and fields red in Northumberland, UK, as millions of vibrant, red poppies open up to the sun.
One of the best places to see them is at the ‘Poison Garden’ exhibit at the Alnwick Gardens, adjacent to Alnwick Castle.
8. KEUKENHOF -- LISSE, THE NETHERLANDS
More than 7 million flower bulbs burst into bloom in springtime at Keukenhof Gardens, the world’s largest flower garden, spanning over 32 hectares. Located in Lisse, in the Netherlands, it is also known as the Garden of Europe.
There are over 800 varieties of tulips, add to that the daffodils and hyacinths and more!
9. SOGNEFJORDEN -- NORWAY
Sognefjorden is the largest fjord in Norway, and the 3rd largest in the world, stretching for over 205 kilometres. When the snow melts, in spring, masses of wildflowers come to life.
10. MOUNT HOOD -- OREGON
Mount Hood, in the Cascades range in Oregon, is especially beautiful in spring. Scientist and filmmaker Tyler Hulett created a beautiful time-lapse video of springtime in Mount Hood. It’s gorgeous. Check it out!
