CANNABIS EDIBLES

“Eat more greens!” The advice offered by nutritionally minded parents and clinicians alike, now has a slew of beautiful new green foods to consider: Cannabis edibles. Some are calling it the next “California Cuisine,” since many edible products originated in the trendsetting Gold Rush state, with gourmet brands like Madame Munchie, Mellows, and KIVA Confections, to name a few.

Cannabis has been infused into cakes, cookies, candies, and other confections as well as  in savory treats.

Legal marijuana sales are now topping $8 billion in the US and a big part of that is due to edibles. Cannabis edibles are creating a whole new gold rush in California, with more than $180 million worth sold in 2017, according to Arcview Market Research. In fact, cannabis infused food and drinks are creating a new gold rush in other states where marijuana has been legalized as well.

In Colorado,  the first state to legalize the recreational use of marijuana, edibles are account for 50% or more of sales at many retail shops.

You can opt for edibles which contain THC and deliver a buzz or those that contain CBD, which deliver wellness benefits without the psychoactive effects. You can also choose microdosing edibles with a CBD:THC ratio of 1:1. It’s a “less is more” approach, claiming better benefits with smaller doses of THC and CBD. You get medicinal effectiveness without the high. Microdosed products contain 5mg or less of THC or CBD per serving.

Like most edibles and pharmacological substances, optimal cannabis doses vary according to things like weight, tolerance, and desired effect. Leafly offers a Cannabis Edibles Dosing Chart.

Tinctures, oils, lozenges, mints, troches, dissolving tablets, and gummies are all good options for gradual absorption vs. edibles such as cookies or chocolates

While they may or may not be available yet where you live, you can find them in your travels. Check out some of the most beautiful Cannabis Edibles we found below:
