A MOST BEAUTIFUL TRAVEL COLLECTION
VICTORIA YORE & TJ DRYSDALE
Collecting experiences is almost a polar opposite of collecting things. Victoria Yore and Terrence (aka TJ) Drysdale, of Follow Me Away, show us how vastly different experiential collections can be. The model/photographer couple travels the world sharing their amazing times.
Their incredible images, documenting their travels are a fusion of documentary and fantasy. Their recent expedition to Peru, shows off their latest set of mind/body/soul portraits. Their travels to Iceland.
These aren’t your typical travel photos. They are enchanting works, reminiscent of great masters paintings. Yore is a romantic figure, bedecked in an array of flowing gowns, standing alone in the middle of epic landscapes.
Giant mountains, relentless deserts, and endless coastlines roll out, in sunset and at sunrise, in mist and in clear crisp air. The settings look so beautiful they seem staged or unreal -- but they are very real, expertly captured.
There is something both nostalgic and oddly modern about these image collections.
The images are all shot using natural lighting, with only the sun as the source. No flashes or reflectors are ever used.
The couple took their 1st trip together in 2015. They 1st met at a photoshoot just a year prior, immediately connecting on their mutual love of travel.
“We didn’t decide to travel together because of our photos,” Yore explains. “They were a nice bonus.” After they got back from their first trip to Europe, they started a co-instagram page for their fine-art travel photography collections.
Yore and Drysdale visited 19 countries in their 1st year.
Their mission for the Follow Me Away project is to give viewers a peek into the incredible beauty the world has to offer.
The images rarely show faces -- this invites us to imagine ourselves there, in the landscapes -- in the places -- to create our own collection of stories.
Their locations are usually remote, which means it’s not so comfortable to produce the shots. Yore needs to hike in her gowns, sometimes in freezing temperatures. Often the shoots last just under five minutes due to weather conditions.
With a trans-Canadian train trip and various South American and Asian countries on their roster, the Follow Me Away collection grows ever more valuable and inspiring.
