WINNERS: IPHONE PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS
Beautiful travel adventures deserve beautiful photos to document them for posterity. If you debate about whether or not you need to bring fancy camera equipment with you to get the job done right, think again!
These incredibly beautiful photos look like they were taken with sophisticated camera equipment, but they weren’t. They were all taken with iPhones! They are the winners of the 11th annual iPhone Photography Awards (IPPAWARDS).
Many of these photos were taken on travel adventures, although some are editorial images of current events and some are abstract photography.
The IPPAWARDS is the longest running iPhone photography competition.
Photographers from over 140 countries submitted their best work, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Ecuador, Finland, France, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Myanmar, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Syria, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States, among many others.
Winners were awarded across 18 different categories that demonstrate the creative capabilities of the iPhone. Categories include Abstract, Animals, Architecture, Children, Floral, Landscape, Lifestyle, Nature, News and Events, Panorama, People, Portrait, Series (3 images), Still Life, Sunset, Travel, Trees, Other.
Jashim Salam, of Bangladesh, is the Grand Prize Winner for his entry, “Displaced.” First, Second and Third Overall Awards go to Alexandre Weber, of Switzerland, for his image, “Baiana in Yellow and Blue,” Huapeng Zhao, of China, for his entry, “Eye to Eye,” and “Zarni Myo Win,” of Myanmar, for his image, “I Want to Play.”
“iPhone users have become very fluent in visual storytelling,” says Kenan Aktulun, founder of IPPAWARDS. “This year’s photos were technically impressive and many of them were very personal.”
If you are interested in entering your iPhone photos for next year’s IPPA Photographer of the Year Awards, Entries are open worldwide to photographers using an iPhone or iPad. Photos should not be published previously anywhere. Your deadline is March 31, 2019. Until then, you can enter your photos every week in the BeautifulNow Photo Contests. We’d love to see your work!
The work of the top winner and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place Winners on each category will be publicized on IPPAWARDS online gallery and any published IPPAWARDS materials.
