ARTIST ROB KESSLER SHOWS US THE BEAUTY OF MICROSCOPIC SEEDS

Fitting snugly in the emerging trend of microscopic beauty, Rob Kessler’s artwork begins in a laboratory. Taking plant samples like pollen, seeds, and leaves, he gives them a fine coating of gold before photographing them via an electron microscope. The images are then enhanced with subtle washes and layers of color which create remarkable results: complex and fragile forms that come to life in vivid clarity. Kessler’s work, aptly named Phy-topia, reveals a world that is hidden to the human eye, turning the unseen into plump and layered forms begging to be touched.
