We are fascinated with edges… and the edge between sleep and awakening is a beautiful line to consider. Lately we’ve been taking a few extra moments to be conscious of our waking moments… to observe how our bodies and minds react to new light, new sensations, and the possibilities of a new day.

Today we are sharing images that capture the raw beautiful waking moments of animals. We wonder what they are thinking when they first stir and open their eyes as they wake.

SOUL AT SUNRISE
Sunrise is, perhaps, the most soulful time for many. It certainly is for five elderly women in China’s central Shaanxi Province and the more than 1,300 stray dogs they feed at 4AM every morning.
