10 FINE ART GLASS FINDS FOR FINE DINING NOW

Edo Kirko Cut Glass.

We’ve been eating and drinking from extraordinarily beautiful glass vessels. And everything seems to be tasting even better than usual! We found 10 very special glass pieces to share with you and your table.

1. EDO KIRIKO CUT GLASS

Edo Kiriko is an exceptional glass studio in Japan. For 3 generations, this studio has been producing a unique line of gorgeous cut glass, with striking patterns and rich contrasting color. We love the sharpness of the design and the brilliant craftsmanship of these ruby bowls.

 

2. 19th CENTURY DECANTERS

These elaborate hand blown cut crystal decanters were made in the mid-nineteenth century in England. They are extremely rare and were quite technically difficult to craft.

Thick clear glass blanks were overlaid in cobalt blue and cut back in arch and diamond shapes. The gorgeous stoppers set into an eight-point starred opening.

3.KOLOMAN MOSER WEINGLASER

Glass artist Koloman Moser created some of the most important designs from the time of the Wiener Jugendstil. These three wine glasses are a rare find. They were produced at the famed Meyer´s Neffe glassworks in Austria. Moser excelled in taking simple forms and bright colors and turning them into sheer elegance.

4. MURANO GLASS BOTTLE A LA FULVIO BIANCONI

This fine Murano glass bottle is pure joy -- it looks like it can pour a rainbow. It was designed in the manner of Fulvio Bianconi. The etched signature on the base is simply signed "Murano." (Circa 1965)

5. BACCARAT CRANBERRY WATER GOBLETS

What a gorgeous color to hold your autumn or winter holiday quaff? These cranberry glass goblets by Baccarat are cut-to-clear in beautiful detail.

These goblets come in a pristine set of 10. (circa 1890’s)

6. “BIBI I” GOBLET --  BOŘEK ŠĺPEK

This fanciful goblet was designed Czech architect, furniture designer, and glass artist Borek Sípek in 1996. It is blown clear glass, festooned with red looping details. Sípek's pieces are executed by glassblowers in Murano, Italy and Novy Bor, Czech Republic.

7. OTTO PRUTCHER GLASS GOBLET

This unusual glass goblet, designed by Otto Prutscher, was manufactured by Meyr´s Neffe, Adolf, around 1907. It was commissioned by E. Bakalowits Söhne in Vienna.

The goblet is made of clear colorless glass, overlayered with yellow. A square motif cuts through, forming a border around the rim and a chain along its stem.

8. LATE 19TH C. VENETIAN GLASS GOBLET

This late 19th century Venetian glass goblet is a beauty. Made of blue Murano glass, its cup sits delicately atop an hourglass pedestal stem, bedecked with glass frills.

10. FLAVIO POLI GLASS BOTTLE

The 1950’s turned out some iconic glass design. A favorite designer, Flavio Poli, designed the large Murano glass bottle with stopper. The interior vessel, a cognac color glass teardrop, is suspended in a solid clear glass body. Designed for renowned glassmaker Seguso Vetri D’Arte.

11. 19TH CENTURY GLASS BOTTLES

This beautiful little collection of elaborate 19th century bottles is a real treasure. It includes a cranberry and milk overlaid flash glass bottle with gilt faceted stopper, a frosted jeweled bottle with central female cartouche, among other fancies.
