Treehouses and cabins have always offered delightful escapes from the hard lines and rigors of regular home life. And while most treehouse are beautiful, by their very nature, we found 10 with the most extraordinary design to share with you today. Check them out below.

1. TREEHOTEL -- HARADS, SWEDEN

Escape to one of the 5 unique “treerooms” at the Treehotel, just outside the city of Lulea, in northern Sweden. Suspended 4-6 meters above the ground, these cabins are uniquely designed to allow for maximum exposure to their surroundings.

Mirror Cube, the most distinctive room, is dressed in mirrors that reflect the background, making it virtually invisible.

After a long day of exploring or lounging in your cozy nest, enjoy the hotel bar, sauna, and relaxation area.

2. DRAGSPELHUSET -- GLASKOGEN NATURE RESERVE, SWEDEN

More design inspiration comes from this awesome solar-powered lakeside cabin, designed by architects Maartje Lammers and Boris Zeisser, of 24H Architecture. Known as “Dragspelhuset,” or “Accordian,” this genius building can extend outward, over the stream, to offer a deeper escape into the woods, whenever the spirit so moves.

3. POLE HOUSE -- KONRAD WÓJCIK

A forest escape should require the smallest possible footprint, clearing as few trees as possible, both for the sake of the environment and the escapee. Danish architect Konrad Wójcik designed the Pole House with a single pier foundation and A-frame structure, that does the job beautifully. Two people comfortably fit inside and can enjoy a spectacular view of the surrounding nature.

Armed with solar panels, a heat pump, and other energy efficient strategies, the carbon footprint is small too!

4. POLE HOUSE -- FAIRHAVEN BEACH, AUSTRALIA

Gaze out to the sea while you revel in this unbelievable Australian beach house. As you walk down the entryway, prepare to feel like you are floating, due to the unique illusion of its design.

Enjoy spectacular views of Fairhaven Beach. With serene nights and radiant days, this is the perfect getaway for two!

5. RABOTHYTTA MOUNTAIN HUT -- NORDLAND, NORWAY

Those who choose to escape into the far reaches of Norway, during winter time, are happy to find refuge in the Rabothytta Mountain Hut. Designed by Norwegian architects from Jarmund/Vigsnæs Company, this is the 500th refuge hut placed by the Norwegian Trekkers Association.

It sits, isolated at 1,200m, high in the Okstindan Mountains, surrounded by rocks, on the edge of a lake. It is made of Kebony wood and is as stunning as the views that surround it.

6. LOG CABIN -- LOVELAND, COLORADO

When you think “escape,” does a log cabin come to mind? If so, you’ll want to check out this one, designed by Kathy Scott, from Walker & Warner Architects, in Loveland, Colorado, with panoramic views of the snow-capped Rockies.

It boasts 2 stories, covering 10,000 square feet, with an incredible winding staircase in between. Its beautiful entrance is made from 2 massive tree trunks.

7. MOUNTAIN HILL SKI CABIN -- AL MOUNTAINS, NORWAY

The Mountain Hill Ski Cabins, designed by Fantastic Norway, is an extreme skier’s paradise retreat, situated in a peaceful area of the Al Mountains, in Norway.

The roof of the house is sloped at 23 degrees and the eaves have been lengthened so that people can ski or sled right off of the top of the house itself!

8. MOONLIGHT CABIN -- VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

A cabin off by itself, under the moonlight, is one of the most beautiful places to escape. This one, created by Jackson Clements Burrows Architects, crowns the beautiful Victoria coastline in Australia.

With a deliberately small scale, this getaway challenges the notions of what is truly “necessary.” Its sustainable design enables living off the grid, both for power and water. The building is configured to be environmentally responsive. Even the rainwater that falls upon it is harvested for reuse.

9. ADVENTURE RESORT -- STEIGEN ARCHIPELAGO, NORWAY

Escape to the beautiful Norwegian coast at Adventure Resort, a carefully restored farmhouse complex, complete with four cantilevered timber cabins, all perched on the quay.

Designed by architect Snorre Stinessen, for polar explorer Børge Ousland. Each cabin is oriented to maximize privacy without sacrificing the view.

10. MICRO CLUSTER CABINS -- VESTFOLD, NORWAY

If you want an escape that offers both privacy and community, check out the Micro Cluster Cabins, designed by Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter. Located in Vestfold, Norway, the compound consists of 3 private cabin buildings, clustered together to offer an additional cozy communal living space to clear collective minds.
