CAPTURING PRECIOUS MEMORIES AS ART NOW

Family photos are the embodiment of some of our fondest memories. Photographer Adrian C. Murray has turned family photos into an art form.

As Murray faced the prospect of losing his beloved child, he wished he’d captured more of Emerson’s early childhood moments.

While many of us have similar wishes to capture memories of our kids, Murray sprung into action. He purchased a camera, learned how to use it well, and began a new mission: to document precious childhood moments.

Fortunately, Emerson recovered, and he and his younger brother Greyson, have been able to deliver plenty of opportunities to create beautiful memories.

These memories are important to preserve, not just for the parents, but for the kids too, who often will not remember early childhood experiences. And while we are looking at photos of Murray’s memories, they evoke memories of our own children and childhoods.

Murray stokes the fire, by engaging his kids, spending time with them, and exposing them to wonderful times and places to create new memories. He wants their childhood to be some filled with the best memories possible.

Murray aims to take photos each week of his kids’ lives, creating a chronological record of memory.

These photos are not heavily photoshopped. The goal was to capture the genuine magic of childhood, not to fabricate it.

Murray shoots on a full-frame camera, utilizing a shallow depth of field and natural light. They have a fairy tale or dreamlike quality about them, as our idealized memories often do.

Murray’s extraordinary photos have been featured in magazines, tv shows, and blogs across the world.
